Thor has been a fabulous addition to the genetics of our herd. He is tame and gentle and passes that onto his offspring as well. His pedigree includes such greats as Dreadlock, Wooly Bully (import) and Queen Allante (import). He is 3/4 wooly so he adds a little fiber to his offspring as well. Thor is an 'Imperial- Royal' meaning he can throw an Imperial Trim which has the black nose. Thor is quite easy to 'work', he LOVES to be brushed and is quite cooperative in the squeeze chute and hea ...

Melissa...now called Yolissa, to keep with our 'Y' name tradition here at HCC has been a very pleasant addition to our herd. She came to us and our herd of 6 cows and 1 bull at the age of 6.5 and within 1 week of being here it was like she was born here! She has been very trusting and friendly with Mike and I, and quite courteous to the other 6 cows all while obtaining the status of 3rd place female rather quickly. Purchasing her has been the result of several years of searching to carry on ...

Details
'HCC Yonita Last Lady of Thor' is a sharp looking little Native Trim girl. She is friendly as all get-out, comes up eagerly for head and butt scratches! On her dam's side she is from the famous 'Sargent Pepper' line, he was imported into the US and was the first yak ever registered with IYAK... C001. Yonita is a result (4 generations) of 2 of our foundation yaks purchased over 24 yrs. ago...a Sherpa H100 & Yo-yo K004 great granddaughter. We have managed to keep this famous line going through her mama Melissa Z053 and papa Thor Y052. She has an impressive 5-6 gen pedigree.

We lost our gorgeous Royal herd bull Thor at 14yrs. old in Sept 2025, he literally broke is back during breeding season. Now in 2026 we have his last 4 calves on the ground and Yonita is one of them. Thor gave us 125 calves in his day and 98% of them all went for breeding stock for other ranchers all over the US. Yonita is his last daughter, so she comes with bragging rights!!!

Yonita will be registered with WHYC 'World Heritage Yak Conservancy (as her parents are), when their new independent Lab is up and running. Most people don't know it, but the true pure Yak is an endangered species in the US, and... we are the only Heritage Breeder in CO! There has been so much inbreeding, cross breeding and lack of registration that the true pure yaks are disappearing. WHYC has a mission to "Preserve, Protect and Promote the Heritage Yaks in North America and the World. All our adult breeding yaks are already registered with WHYC, so their calves can be registered with them as well as registered with NAYAK.

Yonita will be ready to go in Oct. 2026 and will be weaned, wormed, vaccinated and registered. I can easily find an unrelated bull calf to go with her as well as more heifer calves to join her. All would be registerable as well. We deliver for free within a 150mi radius and once a 25% deposit is paid you will receive my 5+page yak care guide, nutritional articles and pictures of the tags/labels from the mineral, grain and blocks we use and pictures of our grooming tools and fiber we collect each year.

Let us help you get into yaks, we will be here for years to come to help you take care of your herd!
